The University of Münster was cited as having been founded in 1631. In the early 1900s, the University of Münster began a period of prosperity, which was soon interrupted by the sudden outbreak of World War II. The faculties were the Catholic Theological Faculty, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the Faculty of Music. It was not until after 1945 that the University of Münster began to grow to its present size, making it one of the most desirable places to study in Germany.
