Hollins University ), a leading American liberal arts and sciences college founded in 1842 as Valley Union Seminary (one of the oldest women's schools of higher education in the U.S.), is located in Roanoke, Virginia, and its most popular major is equestrian, often claiming seven of the top ten spots in the National Association of Intercollegiate Horse Shows competitions.
