Utrecht University, founded in 1636, has a history of 365 years. Utrecht University is the strongest university in the Netherlands and one of the best research universities in Europe. The aims of the university are: to provide education in science and other fields of knowledge; to conduct research in science and other fields; and to provide services to society. At present, the University has 12 faculties. UWO is the most comprehensive university in the Netherlands in terms of curriculum, offering courses in almost all fields of knowledge, except for technical and agricultural engineering, which are offered by specialized universities. The faculties also carry out a wide range of research.
