University of Virginia

Founded in 1819 by U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, the University of Virginia was the first college or university in U.S. history to become independent of the church and is one of the best public universities in the United States. The University of Virginia is a leader in teaching and research in disciplines such as accounting and management. It is ranked 23rd in the 2024 USNEWS Rankings of Comprehensive Universities in the United States, alongside Carnegie Mellon University, UCLA, University of Southern California, and Wake Forest University.
