Reuters is one of the four largest news agencies in the world, and the earliest British news agency, founded in 1850 by Paul Julius Reuter in Aachen, Germany, and moved to London in 1851. The founder Reuter was originally a German, but later became a British citizen, and in 1865 Reuter expanded his private news agency into a large company. Nominally owned by private entrepreneurs, Reuters is actually controlled by the government and is the official mouthpiece of the United Kingdom. The main target of Reuters' news coverage is abroad, and its international news is closely aligned with the British government's diplomatic activities; it also attaches great importance to sports news. The agency's economic news is mainly business reports, serving large British and Western corporations. Reuters is part of the Reuters Group, which accounts for 51 TP3T of Reuters' business, and is known for its rapid news coverage, which is widely used by newspapers around the world.
