The Royal Society (The Royal Society; full name: Royal Society for the Advancement of Natural Knowledge, London) is the most authoritative scientific academic institution in the United Kingdom, and the earliest and never-ending scientific society in history, aiming to fund and promote the development of the natural sciences, was founded in 1660; and in 1662, 1663, and 1669, was granted various charters by the British Royal Family, with the Queen of England as protector of the society.
