The Times of India

The Times of India is an English-language daily newspaper reflecting the views of the Government of India. It was founded in Bombay in 1838 as The Bombay Times; in 1850 it became a daily newspaper; and in May 1861 it merged with The Banner and The Telegraph and Courier and was renamed The Times of India. The newspaper was originally owned by Bennett Coleman Limited of the United Kingdom, but was later acquired by the Dalmia Jain Consortium of India. Its main readership includes intellectuals, businessmen and officials.
