Sewanee University of the South (Sewanee: The University of the South; abbreviation: Sewanee, the University; also transliterated: University of the South Sewanee) A leading American liberal arts and sciences college founded in 1857 and located in Sewanee, Tennessee; ranked 85th in the Washington Monthly ranking of U.S. liberal arts colleges; 45th in the 2015 U.S. News ranking of U.S. liberal arts colleges, ranked 45th; ranked 1,610th in the Webometrics World University Rankings; and has produced 26 Rhodes Scholars, which is the highest percentage of Rhodes Scholars in the U.S. as a percentage of the school's headcount.
