Wellesley College, one of the nation's top women's colleges, is located in Massachusetts and was founded in 1870 as a private college by local squires Mr. and Mrs. Durant. Wellesley College is also the wealthiest college in the United States, and as a result, more than half of its students receive financial aid from the university. In addition, the college has a close academic relationship with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and was ranked fourth in the 2015 U.S. News ranking of U.S. liberal arts colleges. Many outstanding women have come from here, including Hillary Clinton, Soong Mei-ling, Bing Xin, and many others.
