University of Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame is a private school founded in 1842. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 8,968 (Fall 2023) and is located in a suburban area on a 1,265-acre campus. The University of Notre Dame is located in South Bend, Indiana, just 100 miles from Chicago. Only freshmen are required to live on campus, but most students choose to live in one of the university's 30 single-sex residence hall buildings. Since there is no Greek life on Notre Dame's campus, the dorms are the center of Notre Dame's social life. The on-campus restaurant and bar, Legends, is a popular place to watch sporting events. Notre Dame's Fighting Irish boast about 20 varsity NCAA Division I athletic teams and are known for their consistently strong football program. More than half of the student body spends at least one semester studying abroad.

The University of Notre Dame is comprised of eight colleges, the largest of which is the College of Liberal Arts. Graduate and professional programs at Notre Dame include the highly ranked Mendoza College of Business and School of Law, in addition to the popular School of Architecture, which offers undergraduate and graduate programs.
