Meiji University (Japanese: めいじだいがく, English: Meiji University), abbreviated as Meiji University, is a prestigious private university headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Meiji University has contributed to the development of Japan by sending more than 490,000 graduates to the society with the basic concepts of freedom of power, independence and autonomy, and by striving to cultivate human resources who are responsive to the changing needs of the times. It was founded in 1881 by three people, Yashiro Sakae.
