The New York Post is one of the oldest continuously circulating daily newspapers in the United States, founded in 1801, and for over two centuries it has claimed to be "one of the truest accounts of the daily life of the world". The New York Post, which launched an online counterpart to its print edition in 1997 and is now part of the Murdoch News Group, is known for its sensationalist, gossipy style of reporting. As of September 2007, it had an average daily circulation of 724,748 copies.
