The University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (hereinafter referred to as the University of Nice) was founded in 1965 by a decree of the French government. After more than 30 years of development, it is now the largest multidisciplinary university in France. Its main campuses are concentrated in the city of Nice, with a total of 7 campuses; at the same time, it has 4 branches directly under it in the city of Sophia Antipolis, as well as affiliated teaching institutions in the cities of Cannes and Menton; the total area covered by the campuses is 200,000 square meters. The administrative headquarters of the University and its main institutions are currently located in the Château de Varos on the Parc de Varos campus, where the natural sciences teaching and research units are located.
