The full name of Nehru University is Jawaharlal Nehru University or JNU in English, a comprehensive university of arts and sciences established in honor of Gawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India in history. Established in 1969, JNU is spread over an area of 1000 acres. The university focuses mainly on postgraduate training and conducting scientific research. The University has eight faculties, including the Faculty of International Studies, the Faculty of Languages, the Faculty of Life Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, the Faculty of Computer Systems Sciences, the Faculty of Physical Sciences, and the Center for Biological Research, which are focused on training postgraduate and higher level students.
