The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) is one of the most watched television networks in the U.S. Founded in 1943, it was originally the blue network of the National Broadcasting Company.In 1977 ABC broadcast the television series Roots, which had an audience of 130 million viewers, setting a record for the highest ratings in U.S. television history. ABC operates television stations in New York, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Houston, Philadelphia, Fresno, and San Francisco, and has 220 affiliate stations. Its official website was the first to broadcast full television program content on the network's website.
