The University of Hamburg (Universität Hamburg), founded in 1919, is the largest center of academic research and education in North Germany and a member of the German U15 university consortium. The University of Hamburg is one of the largest comprehensive universities in Germany and the largest academic institution in North Germany. In its relatively short history, the university has given birth to six Nobel Prize winners. The university's faculties include Protestant Theology, Law, Law 2, Economics, Medicine, Philosophy and Social Sciences.
