The French National School of Administration (ENA) is an elite institute for the training of senior civil servants, founded in 1945 to train French senior civil servants; to lead research in the management sciences; and to enhance international appeal. The Academy has a staff of some 1,100 lecturers and fewer than 100 graduates each year. The programs offered by the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA) consist of three compulsory and one optional section. Compulsory courses include: the European course; the Local Administration course; and the Public Management course. The elective module is taught in groups of five or six students in a seminar format, who work together for three months to achieve self-management of their teams.
