North Carolina State University

North Carolina State University (NCSU) is an American public university founded in 1887 and located in Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina, with strengths in subjects such as agriculture, engineering, design, and textiles. The university has a total undergraduate enrollment of 27,323 (Fall 2023) on a 2,140-acre campus located in the city. The university operates on a semester-based academic calendar. North Carolina State University is ranked 58th nationally in the 2025 edition of Best Colleges. In-state tuition and fees are $8,986 and out-of-state tuition and fees are $33,034.

North Carolina State University, is the largest four-year university in the state. As a result, students have many options, ranging from more than 100 majors to more than 580 clubs and organizations. The university has a large Greek community, which accounts for approximately 13% of the student body.In terms of other extracurricular activities, students can participate in annual events in the city of Raleigh, such as the North Carolina State Fair and Winterfest. New students are required to live on campus, and approximately 80% of new students choose to do so. On the athletic field, NC State is known for The Wolfpack and competes in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Coast Conference.

North Carolina State University also has a variety of academic departments that serve graduate students, including the highly ranked College of Engineering, which is particularly well known for its nuclear engineering and biological/agricultural engineering programs; the education program; and the Jenkins Graduate School of Management. Notable graduates of NC State include former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and Olympic gold medalist swimmer Cullen Jones.
