The University of Alabama is a comprehensive public university founded in 1831 and located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The school is highly ranked in fields such as media studies and public health, and its Crimson Tide football team is well known in the United States. It was ranked 86th in the 2014 USNEWS Comprehensive Ranking of American Universities, alongside the State University of New York College of Environment and Forestry, the University of California, Santa Cruz, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the University of Tulsa.
