The National University of Law and Politics (NULP) was founded in 1933 and approved as an open university for law and political science in 1934, and became the National University of Law and Politics (NULP) in 1952. In 1949, the University's academic structure consisted of four departments: Law, Political Science, Business and Accounting, and Economics. 1954 saw the addition of the Department of Social Administration and the Department of Journalism, and a year later, the Faculty of Public Administration was established to offer post-graduate programs. 1966 saw the incorporation of the Faculty of Public Administration into the National Institute of Management and Development (NIMD). In 1962, the National University of Law and Economics (NULE) introduced liberal arts education by establishing the first Faculty of Liberal Arts in Thailand, which became the cornerstone of modern higher liberal arts education in Thailand.
