The United States Food and Drug Administration (U.S. Food and Drug Administration; abbreviation: FDA) is a specialized agency of the federal government under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is mainly responsible for the supervision and management of food, dietary supplements, drugs, vaccines, biomedical preparations, blood preparations, medical devices, radiological devices, veterinary drugs and cosmetics produced and imported into the U.S. In addition, it is also responsible for enforcing the Public Health Service Act (the Public Health Service Act), Section 361, including the public health conditions and interstate travel and transportation inspections, control of diseases that may exist in many products.
