The University of Manchester (The University of Manchester) is the first of the six "red brick universities" in the United Kingdom and a member of the Russell Group of universities. The University of Manchester was established in 2004 through the merger of Manchester Polytechnic University, founded in 1824, and Victoria University of Manchester, founded in 1851.
