The Federal Institute for Forestry, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL; Eidgenössische Forschungsanstalt für Eid Wald, Schnee und Landschaft) is a renowned Swiss research institute, formed in 1989 by the merger of the Federal Institute for Forestry (EAFV) and the Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF) in the German-speaking canton of Zurich. It is located in the German-speaking canton of Zurich, and is dedicated to research in the direction of the use and protection of landscapes and living spaces. Its research projects include landscape modeling, landscape management, biodiversity surveys, and resource analysis and forecasting.
