Technische Universitaet München was recognized by the German Research Federation (DFG) as one of the first three German Elite Universities (Elite-Uni) for its outstanding innovative spirit and excellent quality of science and education, and was listed as a priority for funding and fostering in the "Future Plan" by the German government. The German government has named the university as one of the first three German elite universities (Elite-Uni) in the "Future Program". TUM has been ranked No. 1 for many years in the German Ministry of Education's CHE ranking of universities. The university currently has three campuses with 12 faculties and 127 specialties.
