Polish News Agency

The Polish News Agency (PAP) is the national news agency of the People's Republic of Poland, founded in 1944 as the Polish Telegraphic Agency in 1918. Under the direct leadership of the Polish Council of Ministers and the Central Committee of the Polish Unified Workers' Party, PAP is responsible for the distribution of major news on behalf of the state, the provision of wire services to domestic news organizations, the distribution of news abroad and the publication of news journals.
