The White House Correspondents' Association; abbreviation: WHCA) is an organization of journalists from the media who specialize in covering the White House and the presidents of the United States, headquartered in Washington, DC. The organization originated in 1914, when a group of journalists created it in response to an unfounded rumor that members of the U.S. Congress would choose which journalists would attend U.S. President Woodrow Wilson's press conferences.
