The Australian Associated Press (AAP) is Australia's largest news agency. Founded in 1935, it was formed in Melbourne by a consortium of the nation's 15 major newspapers of the day, and is currently headquartered in Sydney with 1,200 staff. United News Australia is the main source of international news for Australian newspapers, radio and television, as well as providing domestic news. It has close links with the world's major news agencies, and its main overseas sources are Reuters, Agence France-Presse and others.
