The Kingdom of Spain (referred to as: Spain) is located in southwestern Europe, the capital and seat of government is Madrid, the official language is Spanish, Catalan, Basque, Galician in some areas enjoy the status of official language. Spain has a constitutional monarchy, with the King as the Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, representing the State, and the throne being hereditary by the direct descendants of Juan Carlos I. The King appoints the Prime Minister, who leads the Government in the exercise of executive power.
