Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (German: Das Parfüm - Die Geschichte eines Mörders; a.k.a.: The Perfume Murders) is the story of Grenouille, a genius with an unusually acute sense of smell, who is not humanly inclined, and who kills people in pursuit of the world's most perfect scent. The movie is based on the story of a German writer, Pavlov Pavlov. Adapted from the bestselling international novel of the same name by German author Patrick Süskind, the film was directed by Tom Tykwer and produced by DreamWorks Pictures Distribution and Budweiser Films, and premiered on September 7, 2006 in Germany.
