The World Health Organization (WHO) is the world's largest public health organization, an agency of the United Nations, founded in 1948 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. WHO's main responsibilities include combating epidemics and endemic diseases, promoting the determination of international standards for biological products, providing and improving public health, medical treatment of diseases, and teaching and training in related matters.WHO has six regions around the world, namely Africa, Europe, South-East Asia, Eastern Mediterranean, Western Pacific, and the Americas, with a total of 194 member states (as of March 2014).WHO is the world's largest public health organization, founded in 1948 as an agency of the United Nations.
