SIX Swiss Exchange is one of the most technologically advanced stock exchanges in the world. It is a merger of three centuries-old stock exchanges in Switzerland, namely Zurich, Basel, and Geneva, in 1995; it was the first in the world to use a fully automated trading, clearing, and settlement system in 1995; and in 1988, it set up the world's largest derivatives exchange, Eurex, together with the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Its main index is the Swiss Market Index (SMI-Swiss Market Index).
