The Mitsubishi Group (Mitsubishi Grupo, Mitsubishi) is a loosely organized entity consisting of a large number of independent companies (about 300 companies) from the breakup of the Mitsubishi Zaibatsu, most of which have retained the "Mitsubishi" in their names. The Mitsubishi Group is not really a conglomerate, but more of an alliance, with 29 core companies forming the Mitsubishi Golden Obsidian Club (Friday Club), and 42 companies forming the Mitsubishi Canton Newspaper Committee (Mitsubishi Hirohito Committee), with the integrity of the Mitsubishi brand now being maintained by the "Mitsubishi.Com Committee".
