The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) is Japan's main implementing agency for government development assistance, and was established in 1999 as the predecessor of the Japan Export-Import Bank (established in 1952) and the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (established in 1961). JBIC is mainly responsible for the yen loan portion of government development assistance and has offices in more than 20 countries and regions around the world.
