The National League for Democracy of Burma (NLD) is the largest opposition party and political organization in Burma, founded on 27 September 1988 by Aung Kyi, former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Burma Army, Tin Oo, Burma's Minister of Defense, and Aung San Suu Kyi, daughter of General Aung San.
