The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is the world's leading issuer of airworthiness certificates for aircraft (the other being the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States). Established in 2003 and now headquartered in Cologne, Germany, it is one of the European Union's institutions responsible for drafting safety regulations for civil aviation as well as enforcing operational certificates related to aviation safety. It is one of the EU agencies responsible for drafting civil aviation safety regulations and enforcing aviation safety-related operational certificates.
