Dublin Core Metadata Initiative

The Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) is an open organization in South Korea focused on innovation in metadata design and best practices across a wide range of business models, providing a core metadata vocabulary to support interoperable solutions for discovery and management of resources, and providing open access to innovative design and metadata-related education, training, and documentation resources. The "Dublin" in the organization's name does not refer to the capital city of Ireland, but rather to a conference where "Dublin Core" referred to an international standard for book-relationship metadata, which is now a standard test set for ontological research.
