The United States Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (abbreviated as CFPB) is a U.S. federal government agency established in 2011, funded by the Federal Reserve and part of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, that regulates U.S. financial institutions with more than $10 billion in assets and promotes fairness, transparency, and accessibility of mortgage, credit card, and other consumer financial products and services. The CFPB is responsible for regulating U.S. financial institutions with assets in excess of $10 billion and promoting fair and transparent mortgage, credit card, and other consumer financial products and services.
