Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is a U.S. national laboratory founded in 1943 as part of the U.S. Department of Energy. Originally part of the Manhattan Project, Oak Ridge National Laboratory produced and separated uranium and plutonium, and now conducts research in the areas of neutron science, energy science, chemistry and radiochemistry, environmental science, robotics, supercomputers, and mathematics.
