The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI; abbreviation: FBI) is the earliest intelligence police agency in the United States, and also the most powerful department of the United States to fight crime, subordinate to the Department of Justice, established in 1935. Its main responsibilities are to protect the security of the United States, investigate foreign intelligence and terrorist activities; federal, state and international agencies to provide leadership and law enforcement help. Among other things, the FBI enjoys the highest priority in the areas of counter-atrocities, narcotics, organized crime, foreign counter-intelligence, violent crime, and white-collar crime.
