The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (U.N. Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific; abbreviated as ESCAP; abbreviated as ESCAP) is a branch of the United Nations established in 1947 under the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand. Its main responsibility is to promote the economic and social development of member countries.
