The Bank of Korea (Korean: 한국은행; English: Bank of Korea; abbreviation: KRB) is the central bank of the Republic of Korea, founded on June 12, 1950 under the Bank of Korea Act, and is mainly responsible for the issuance of the Korean Won, Korea's monetary policy, the stability of the financial system, and the payment system.
