The Académie française, founded in 1635, is a long-established academic authority, as one of the five Académies under the Institut de France, whose main task is to standardize the French language and protect the various arts. Academic Academy consists of forty academicians, elected academicians is a very high honor, the academy of academicians concentrated in the highest authority of the French academic community. Academicians of the Académie française are the most prestigious, and by definition they can be called Academicians of the Académie française, and by the same token, the other four Academicians of the Académie française should also be called Academicians of the Académie française. The Academicians work to maintain the clarity and purity of the French language as it develops and changes, specifically by regulating the correct use of the language through the compilation of dictionaries for the use of fixed languages, but also through their recommendations and through their participation in committees that define terminology.
