French Academy of Letters

The French Academy of Letters (Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres; Académie française des inscriptions et belles-lettres; French Academy of Inscriptions and American Literature) is an authoritative academic institution in France, one of the five Academies of the Institut de France, which encourages and promotes the study of history, archaeology, and literature, with research that focuses on linguistics, archaeology, the history of France, and the study of oriental cultures.
