Founded in November 1997, DPRK Hallyu Bank is the only joint-stock commercial bank of the DPRK and the only commercial bank authorized to operate RMB business, which is the window of the DPRK to understand the world economy. Hallyu Bank is directly under the supervision and management of the Central Bank of the DPRK, and its main businesses include: individual savings deposits; unit deposits and settlements; handling letters of credit, foreign exchange remittances, cash settlements, import and export settlements; foreign exchange loans and foreign exchange guarantees; foreign exchange investment; agency for local and foreign currency exchange; credit investigation and consultation, negotiating various businesses on behalf of the DPRK; import and export trade; and exclusive Chinese RMB deposits and custodianship business in the DPRK. The company also carries out Chinese RMB deposit and custodian business in DPRK exclusively.
