The Australian Stock Exchange (ASX; abbreviation: ASX) was established in 2006 as a result of the merger of the Australian Stock Exchange and the Sydney Futures Exchange, and is headquartered in Sydney. SGX proposed a merger with ASX in 2010, but the proposal was ultimately rejected by the Australian Senate.
