Angela Merkel (Angela Dorothea Merkel) is the first female chancellor in the history of Germany, Germany's famous female politician, known as the "Iron Lady".On July 17, 1954, Angela Merkel was born in Hamburg. Born in Hamburg; in 1986, graduated from the University of Leipzig; in November 1989, formally entered the political arena, joined the former GDR "Democratic Awakening" organization; in November 2005, was successfully elected as Prime Minister of the coalition government of the Alliance Party and the Social Democrats (SPD), and became the 43rd Chancellor of Germany; in 2009 and 2013, she was successfully re-elected.
