Since its inception in 1869, Nature, the world's first international scientific journal, has consistently reported and commented on the most important breakthroughs in science and technology around the globe. Its mission is "to bring to the public the important results of scientific discovery, and to make known at the earliest possible date all the advances made in every branch of natural knowledge throughout the world. Nature has a weekly circulation of 60,000 copies worldwide, with about a quarter distributed to libraries and research institutions.
