The Indian Navy (Bhartiya Nāu Senā), formerly known as the Royal Indian Navy, is the fifth largest navy in the world, with 55,000 personnel, including 5,000 naval aviators and 2,000 marines; and more than 155 ships, including aircraft carriers such as the HMS Virat and jet fighters such as the INS Viraat.
