Vienna State Opera

The Vienna State Opera (German: Wiener Staatsoper) is a world-famous opera house, which gave its first performance in 1869 (Mozart's Don Giovanni) and then, after being destroyed in World War II, its first performance after reconstruction in 1955 (Beethoven's Fidelio). The Vienna State Opera is closely associated with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, whose members are drawn from the opera house orchestra.
