General Electric Company (GE; abbreviation: GE) is the world's largest multifaceted technology services company, with businesses spanning aero-engines, power generation, finance, medical devices, television and media, plastics, energy, etc. GE was formed by the merger of the Edison Electric Light Company, which was founded in 1878, and the Thompson Houston Electric Company, which was founded in 1892.
